With over 10 years of management experience in the beauty supply industry, Aunica acquired a wealth of information from the exposure of that environment. From hair care products and hair styling techniques to customer feedback, consultation and sales - her experience has greatly contributed to the development of Maia Crown. Her personal struggle to retain length and reduce shedding drove her to find a solution that would promote long, healthy hair, stimulate growth, and thicken dry + thin hair. Aunica knew that her success in developing a useful product also meant the success of others who experienced similar hair care issues. Her determination to improve her own hair coupled with her willingness to help others resulted in her passion that is Maia Crown.

Dominique Newman always had a passion for entrepreneurship. Starting at the young age of 7 she would use scrap paper and laminating machines at the local kinkos to make bookmarks and sell them at her church. That was just the beginning of a long road of hustling. In 2013 she started her first company, Uniquely Positive. She provided motivational videos, quotes and eventually started a motivational fitness clothing line with the company.
In 2014 she bought her first commercial property and opened a private women’s training facility.
In 2016 she started her third business, Fuel UP. Which has been her biggest success since. Fuel up provides healthy pre cooked meal prep for her customers every week. With a full staff, she has been able to serve this community healthy meals for seven years now and has no intention of stopping.
On top of these businesses she also has an online fitness business (Dominique Newman Fitness) and her own rental properties. She is the mother of twin one year olds and a two year old and is wife to Derek Newman.
Dominique has also had a huge hand in the adoption of hundreds of dogs over the years with her volunteer work with the humane society. She also serves the homeless thanksgiving with mission Waco.
She has lived in Waco since she was seven years old and nothing means more to her than building and supporting this great town for her family to grow in.

Hope Balfa is from Lafayette, Louisiana and has lived in Waco since 2009. She first moved here from Houston after forming life-changing relationships with the teens in the Mission Waco youth program. She then transferred to Baylor from Lonestar Community College, and earned her Bachelors and Masters of Social Work from Baylor. Throughout her 14 years in Waco, Hope has been a longtime community organizer, activist, political candidate, and most importantly the mother of 2 incredible Waco ISD students. After an unexpected job loss, Hope made some bold, brave moves and single handedly created TurnUp Waco, opening her doors on Jan 1, 2023. Shortly after, she began a 6 month Life Coach training program (accredited by the International Coaching Federation) and launched "The Break-Up Baddie" Life Coaching services and podcast. A core value Hope holds in business (that's rooted in her own lived experience, faith, and social work ethics) is that physical/mental health services should be accessible to all people, regardless of income. Therefore she offers sliding-scale rates for her Life Coaching services, and various forms of financial assistance are available for TurnUp Waco memberships, as well.
